| Environmental Health and Safety Manager The Client Our client is a well respected multi-national corporation. They are one of the world’s largest outer-wear/apparel brands and for developing innovative apparel products. The Job The Successful Candidate should develop, implement and manage environmental programs and tools within Apparel, Footwear and Equipment suppliers in order to meet Company’s Environmental policy, government regulations and future innovation of Organization’s Environmental program. The Essential Functions of this position includes working closely with Company’s Social Compliance, materials research, Apparel, footwear and equipment to implement program worldwide; develop country specific programs that will help drive suppliers to meet Company’s Environmental policy, including company’s restricted substances list; set program objectives/targets and monitor progress to meeting those objectives; act as environmental resource to Apparel, Footwear and Equipment business units as well as contract factories; work closely with Company’s Social compliance group to implement EHS program into the Standards of Manufacturing Practices evaluation process (SMP); identify potential opportunities for programs which move factories toward achieving best practices; and clearly communicate supplier progress and/or issues to Organization business units and Liaison offices. The Secondary Functions of this position includes conducting factory assessments and coordinate external audits; coordinate sustainability learning initiatives with contract factories and Company’s liaison offices; provide education and awareness to contract factories in order to minimize environmental impact associated with Footwear, Apparel and equipment Manufacturing; responsible for researching, gathering and organizing information on current and proposed environmental regulations and building relationship with local governments, NGO community and other Brands. The Applicant The successful applicant should possess mental ability to manage complex interpersonal interactions with others, solve problems, make decisions, operate independently and with discretion, and work effectively under pressure. Possess excellent organizational and analytical skills and prioritize and successfully execute multiple tasks/projects. Can relate well with peers and superior at building relationships. Has the ability to work well with individuals of different countries and cultures. Possess above average computer skills with working knowledge of spreadsheet and word-processing applications. (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point and Internet search engines). Possess above average presentation skills. Has a general understanding of apparel and footwear product process from product concept through to order delivery from the factory. Working knowledge of trade agreements, customs regulations, import/export controls that impact the specific geographical area of responsibility. Well developed English language skills; reading, writing and speaking. Has knowledge of environmental regulations and awareness of relevant NGOs. The successful applicant should possess a college degree preferably in Environmental studies, Chemistry, Social Sciences, Business, Management, Engineering, or a related field with a proven track record of leading people and a minimum of 5-8 years environmental responsibility experience. The job conditions may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, especially during peak activity periods and approximately 50% travel. Exposure to chemicals and working conditions related to the textile and garment industry. | |
